The Perfect Sacrifice
Our topic is "The Perfect Sacrifice"
Questions to be answered are as follows:
- What was the sacrifice requirement?
- What was the perfect sacrifice?
- What was satan's role in all this?
1. THE SACRIFICE REQUIREMENTS
A PERSON IS ACCEPTED OR REJECTED ON THE BASIS OF HIS SACRIFICE TO GOD IN THE OT
We found out that a bloodless sacrifice is EVIL in God's sight.
- Hebrews 9:22 -- And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission (of sins).
- The Law laid down certain basic requirements concerning blood sacrifices in the old Testament.
- Exodus 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: (in its prime) Not 2nd rate
- Leviticus 22:20 -- Ye shall offer at your own will a male without blemish
- Leviticus 23:12 -- And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year (in its prime) for a burnt offering unto the Lord. ( The sacrifice is to appease God.)
2. THE PERFECT SACRIFICE
Jesus fulfilled these requirements given in the Law.
- Romans 10:4 -- For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness everyone that believeth.
He was a male.
He was a man in his prime of life.
He was perfect in spirit, soul, and body.
In the old Testament they keep the sacrifice separate for several days to examine daily to make sure it was perfect and without blemish.
Jesus was examined for several days with beatings and whippings to see if He was perfect. You see, under pressure our true nature comes out.
KEY 1
- 1 Peter 1:18 -- For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
- 1 Peter 1:19 -- But with the precious blood of christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
- Hebrews 4:15 -- For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
- Hebrews 7:22 to 8:6
- 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
- 7:24 hath an unchangeable priesthood
- 7:25 Wherefore he is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto by him,---
- 7:26 For such a high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.
- 7:27 who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
- 8:1 --We have such a high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
- 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which is established on better promises.
Once man has accepted the fact that he is sinful, how has he tried to get right with God? to appease the Deity? Every way except the right way.
- Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait (narrow) gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
- Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

KEY 3
- Hebrews 9:12-14
- 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
- 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
- 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

THIS IS WHY HE COULD SAY OF HIS WORK
- John 19:30 "IT IS FINISHED"
- Greek 5055 teleo: To make an end or accomplishment. To bring to perfection or to its destined goal. To be completed or fulfilled.
- No further need for any more blood sacrifices.
- He had fulfilled all of the law and all its rituals.
- There is no other requirement but a blood sacrifice.
- Never has been, never will be.
The legal demands of sin had been met and in the judicial mind of God a change has occurred in regard to us. He pronounces us clean, clothes us with righteousness, and gives us eternal life. All of this occurs in the throne room.
3. SATAN'S ROLE IN THE ATONEMENT PROCESS.
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
The sin was against God -- Psalms 51:3; Psalms 51:4, etc.
We give account of our sin to God - Romans 14:12, etc.
The wrath of God abides on us if we do not approach God on His terms - John 3:36.
God provided the way of escape from our sin - Psalms 32:1; Romans 10:4, 1 Peter 1:19, Hebrews 9:12, etc.
